I love being 60 years old with Mac. Who would’ve thought that would be the case?! I remember my mother’s 31st birthday. I remember thinking, “She is getting old!” My mother looked young but 30 years old sounded like a long, long time. I wondered what it would be like to be that old…now I’m smiling.
When Mac and I were on our honeymoon 42 years ago, we never imagined it possible to grow closer than we were at the time. Looking back now, we realize we didn’t even know what love was at 18 and 19 years old. Our young love was based on attraction and feelings. Today, we are still attracted to each other and we have deeper feelings than ever for each other. But way more than that, we are committed to one other.
Our commitment is based first on our love for God. We want to please and honor Him. When we are live in this way, then we in turn grow in the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness and self-control. Our marriage and relationships become richer because of this.
Each morning the past few days, we sat on the deck drinking our coffee while looking at the still waters you see in this picture. As the sun came up, we watched fish dance across the water.
I recalled this; Jesus said, “Anyone who believes in me may come and drink. For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from your heart.’” (John 7:38 NLT)
I think of the ripple effect in our lives as we have been drinking of God’s Living Water for many years now. We have a front row seat with family and friends enjoying life while sharing the hope with have with others.
Our time at Lake Powell was refreshing. We are ready for the next adventure God has called us to do with energy and excitement!
